Girl Effect works on the deep-seated psychological drivers that influence adolescent girls’ decision-making, building their intrinsic motivation to act, to achieve sustainable behaviour change.
Girl Effect is able to reach millions of girls, in more than 50 countries, by delivering their work via the technology girls use everyday, including mobile phones, TV and radio as well as pioneering developments in artificial intelligence, Interactive Voice Response (IVR), chatbot and mobile technology to find innovative ways to reach and engage girls more personally, at scale, and cost effectively. Girl effect works across the world in places where girls are marginalised and vulnerable, including Malawi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Nigeria, Indonesia, Tanzania and India.
About the role
The Director, Social and Behavioural Change (SBC), will lead the ongoing development of Girl Effect’s technical approach to delivering social and behaviour change outcomes for girls, ensuring their programming is designed and implemented to have the greatest impact. The role holder will build and lead a small team to strengthen expertise across Girl Effect in applying social and behaviour change theory and practice: across their evidence, programme design, creative and partnership teams, both at the global level and in the countries where they work. The role holder will work within the Impact team, working closely with experts in gender, evidence and insights, TEGA (our participatory, digital-led research methodology) and safeguarding.
The Director, SBC will contribute to the development of new partnerships with aligned organisations and funders, providing strategic inputs into programme design, and supporting the partnerships team to identify new opportunities to grow their work. They will build Girl Effect as a thought-leader in this space, and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organisation, providing expert guidance to other team leaders and the Executive Team. The role will involve <20% international travel.
This role could be based out of Mumbai, India or Nairobi, Kenya.
