About the Research Advisory Function:

Sattva has ongoing work with several leading global and regional Foundations and Multi-lateral organisations to create evidence and curate dialogue for policy action. Sattva’s Research Advisory practice conducts research studies and creates knowledge products that contribute to informed decision-making and action for funders and sector practitioners. Sattva research has experience in a range of research work - landscape studies to sector-focused community studies and impact studies — supported by leading donors. Sattva has created several flagship research reports by building evidence through rigorous quantitative and qualitative methods in education, gender equality, healthcare, financial inclusion, funding, and social impact ecosystems.

About the roles: 

Sattva is in the lookout for 2 senior positions in their Research Advisory function: The incumbent for these roles will have to work from either Gurgaon or Bangalore. 

The Engagement Manager (EM) - 7 to 10 years experience will play a key role in the Projects. You will work closely with the Lead and a small Team of 3-4 members to ensure client success, conceptualize and create research products and data solutions as part of Sattva Research, to influence key institutions and stakeholders across the development sector.

The Senior Engagement Manager (SEM) - 10+ years experience is one of the key leadership roles at Sattva leading either large accounts or one or more projects. In this role, you will work closely with Sattva’s senior stakeholders, leading your team to ensure client success, conceptualize and create research products and data solutions as part of Sattva Research, to influence key institutions and stakeholders across the development sector. You will play an integral role in policy engagement and knowledge creation. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Sattva believes in outcome-orientation in everything they do. The key responsibilities for this role will be the following:

  •  Drive end-to-end delivery management for medium to large-sized research and knowledge projects and own accountability of driving the project from scoping to design, execution and delivery excellence 
  • Take accountability to achieve successful outcomes for the client, project and impact social impact that is envisioned for the project
  • Build capacity in the team on an ongoing basis for delivering high-value research.
  • Lead client engagement through active relationship building and co-creating solutions in research with a deep understanding of client needs. Effectively manage the client’s ask and deliver the project in stipulated time frames.
  • Influence decision-making and action to enable positive and sustainable impact in the stakeholder ecosystem that are recipients of the research.
  • Conduct ongoing investigations into understanding key 'future-forward' themes across sectors and practice areas and convert it into meaningful data and insights.
  • Contribute to developing tech-and data-based 'insights products' for Sattva Knowledge.
  • Participate in building and strengthening internal systems and processes which contribute towards effective and efficient functioning of the knowledge centre. 


Does this Sound Like You?

  • 7+ years of proven experience in leading research projects along with a postgraduate degree in public policy/ public health/ development studies or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership in a high paced multistakeholder, client-facing research impact organization with an understanding of the global and Indian development space.
  • Strong knowledge of the development landscape in India and around the world, including an in-depth understanding of the roles of various stakeholders (government, academia, international institutions, foundations, non-profit and corporate organizations).
  • Strong skill sets in designing and implementing research studies, data analysis and synthesis along with solutionizing.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • For SEM - Past experience managing teams and leading a team of leaders.


Preferred: 

  • Strong research experience in qualitative or behavioural research is highly preferred
  • For SEM - Past experience with synthesizing evidence and building narratives to further policy engagement
  • For SEM - Past experience with leading learning grants and achieving participatory knowledge creation
