About IRADe

IRADe is a reputed think tank that conducts multidisciplinary research, policy analysis, capacity building, and action programs (M&E support) in the field of energy, environment, and sustainable development. The primary thematic areas it focuses on are poverty alleviation, agriculture and food security, energy and power, climate change, and sustainable urban development.

It has been designated as a Center of Excellence in the area of Urban Development on Climate Change Vulnerability and Adaptation by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and is recognized as Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. It is also been selected as the National Focal Point for India for International network on Gender and Energy by ENERGIA and is a member of NATCOM network established by the Ministry of Environment & Forests for Climate Change.

Established in 2002, it is currently headed by Prof. Kirit S. Parikh and Prof. Jyoti K. Parikh. Prof. Kirit has been the Founder Director of Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) and former Senior Economic Advisor to the UNDP. Dr. Jyoti is a former member of the Prime Minister's Council on Climate Change and is a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Eminent figures such as Dr. Manmohan Singh, Adi Godrej, Ela Bhatt are founding members and serve on the board for IRADe.

How Will You Make a Difference

With a strong focus on research, management, collaboration with multilateral and bilateral stakeholders, you will radically contribute to the sustainable development landscape in India by :

  • Working closely with Executive Director (Prof. Jyoti K. Parikh) on managing and promoting IRADe
  • Overseeing and successfully carrying out action or policy projects, preferably in IRADe thematic areas
  • Playing a pivotal role in fundraising for the IRADe’s thematic areas and initiating new related areas, if interested
  • Bringing new networks and promoting IRADe’s activities by collaboration and partnerships
  • Guiding young talent and conducting group activities


Who We're Looking For

IRADe is seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate for Director’s position, to undertake key leadership responsibilities. The position will be confirmed after one-year probation, subsequently for 3-5 years’ duration or more. Essentially, IRADe is looking for someone with:

  • 20 – 25 years of experience in research and policy analysis, preferably in the area of energy, sustainable development, or climate change
  • Recognition and publication in areas that are a thematic focus for IRADe
  • Experience in collaborating with international foundations, multilateral and bilateral organizations
  • Networking abilities across stakeholders
  • Experience in a leadership management role
  • Prior experience in fundraising will be an important aspect of this role
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Based in New Delhi, the intitution focusses on research and effective action through multi-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder research for implementable solutions for sustainable development and policy and action research that accounts for the effective governance of techno-economic and socio-cultural issues.

Established in 2002, the institute has collaborated on projects with well-known international and national organizations such as USAID, UNDP, World Bank, Rockefellar Foundation, Niti Ayog DFiD, various other ministries, institutes and the private sector.
