We love building great teams. We have worked at startups and big companies, invested and operated, worked across fields and across the globe. Some of us come from recruiting backgrounds, and some of us don’t.

  1. 2015

    Shortlist founded with 5 people in Palo Alto, CA; initial office opened in Mumbai, India

  2. 2016

    Nairobi office opened; chatbot and assessment platform launched to improve screening efficiency and level talent playing field

  3. 2017

    Raised seed investment round of $1M to build and expand

  4. 2018

    Introduced Shortlist Search with the ambition to become the best executive search firm in Africa

  5. 2019

    Launched the Off-Grid Talent Initiative (funded by UK's FCDO) to on-ramp 400+ youth into careers in clean energy across 10 African countries; made 1,000th placement

  6. 2020

    Introduced Shortlist Futures to unblock workforce constraints for growth, impact and job creation; supported 500th company, made 2,000th placement

  7. 2021

    Launched new Futures programs to expand remote digital work opportunities to Kenyans (with Challenge Fund for Youth Employment) and improve gender representation in clean energy (with Global Energy Alliance for People & Planet)

  8. 2022

    Supported 900th company; made 4,000th placement; expanded team from Kenya and India into Nigeria and UK

  9. 2023

    Shortlist Search recognized as one of leading search firms in Africa; added teammates in US, Mauritius, Senegal, and Philippines; published "Bottlenecks & Breakthroughs" to diagnose causes of gender disparity in Africa's green economy

  10. 2024

    Partnered with the Gates Foundation on the Gender & AI Livelihoods Fund (GAIL). Made our 7,000th placement

  11. 2025

    Celebrated our 10-year anniversary. Partnered with the Gates Foundation on the Gender & AI Livelihoods Fund (GAIL). Reached our 10,000th placement.
