Acumen Academy UK is looking for a Marketing and Communications Officer to spread the word about their UK Fellows and online social-change courses in the United Kingdom. They are looking for a self-starter who has experience designing and delivering impactful communications. This role is based in London and open to remote work.

About the role

Acumen Academy have recently launched the Acumen Fellowship in the UK, focused on connecting bold leaders tackling injustice in their communities - and equipping them with the knowledge, skills and community to accelerate and sustain their impact. They are building the programme as they launch it, and they are looking for someone who can embrace a start-up environment and help the, define what works (and what doesn’t) as they expand their reach across the UK. In this role, you will work closely with Acumen Academy UK’s Programme Manager and Acumen Academy's global marketing team as you deliver beautiful and compelling digital communications across a range of mediums.

Role responsibilities:

  • Help define and build their strategy for increasing the reach of Acumen Academy’s online courses in the UK – testing and templatizing what works as you learn
  • Develop and deliver engaging stories and content pieces profiling the Acumen Fellows in the UK - to share via newsletters, blogs, emails, social media and digital marketing campaigns
  • Support the communications and promotion of Acumen Academy’s online and in-person community events in the UK - for potential Fellows, online course-takers, workshop attendees
  • Build and manage partnerships with media outlets, press partners and influencers
  • Work in collaboration with Acumen’s global marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and visual branding

Qualifications and skills:

  • You are at ease creating, executing and monitoring communication campaigns using email, web and social media - and can point to the digital campaigns you’ve directly influenced or managed (this could during school/university or professionally)
  • You are a great writer who takes pride in creating content that tells an engaging story
  • You have a strong track record of building relationships with teams and partners e.g. media outlets, corporates, influencers
  • You are always using data to learn and refine, and people often tell you that you have a strong eye for detail
  • You are a self-starter who thrives when there is ambiguity and remains calm when there are curveballs
  • You are committed to changing the way the UK tackles poverty, and aspire to live by our values: generosity & accountability, humility & audacity, listening & leadership, integrity & respect

Other nice to haves:

  • You are confident using portions of the Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • You are confident using online communication tools, such as Hubspot, to manage social media
  • You have a proven track record of working with media and influencers
  • You have a background working in a fast-paced environment with purpose-driven organisations

About Time to Shine: This role is part of the Time to Shine leadership programme established by The Rank Foundation. If successful, you will join a cohort of 30-50 leaders across different organizations within the Rank or National Lottery Community Fund network. Over a 12 month period, you will have a range of training sessions with your cohort to empower you with the leadership skills needed in your role.
