Job description

Farm to Feed is searching for a motivated and experienced Sales Lead. Reporting to the Director of Business Development and working with our dynamic team, your goal will be to provide outstanding customer service to our clients whilst driving sales by acquiring new customers. You will be tasked with developing sales plans and customer service targets.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working in a customer service position, with excellent knowledge of the latest industry standards and techniques. In addition to being an excellent communicator (written and verbal), you will also demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills. We are keen to find someone who is eager to learn and grow with our start up.


  • Develop and implement strategic sales plan; identifying leads within customer segments.
  • Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships and understand their needs.
  • Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.
  • Liaise with the operations team.
  • Establish and implement effective customer service procedures, policies, and standards.
  • Manage customer accounts and support customers’ engagement with our digital marketplace.
  • Respond and resolve customer service issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage customer feedback and issue resolution system (including record keeping of key transactions and issues).
  • Develop customer satisfaction targets and coordinate with the team to meet them on a steady basis.
  • Monitor and assess our performance in customer care and prepare detailed reports on your findings.
  • Stay informed on the latest industry standards and methods.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or relevant field.
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close.
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a customer service position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer service software.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • A natural entrepreneurial flair and self-motivated, working at best with minimal support and guidance.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Team player.
  • Available to work extended hours.
  • An eye for detail.
  • Kenyan Nationality and/or have right to work in Kenya.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, nearly 50% of fruits and vegetables produced never reach a consumer. In Kenya, 30% of food produced is lost after harvest. Whilst this is happening, 32% of Kenyans face food insecurity and 26% of Kenyan children are stunted. Farm to Feed was created to tackle this devastating paradox.

At Farm to Feed, we aggregate surplus and imperfect produce and sell to partners who help increase access to affordable nutrition and customers looking for affordable vegetables whilst having a positive impact on the climate.

As a result, smallholder farmers have additional income; food insecure communities access good nutrition; and children are less malnourished. Our work also reduces greenhouse gas emissions (food waste is responsible for 10% of global greenhouse gases).
